Give THANKS in ALL circumstances...

If you have seen me post one thing these last few months it's probably been about not having running water in our apartment.  We have been without water since March 1st - which means 82 days without running water during the daytime.  And maybe that's not a big deal, but when you have something and it's taken away - it kind of hurts.  I have 3 three kids 5 and under (one is a newborn!)...  so, I would say that i NEED water.  Thankfully, we have a water machine that we use for all of our drinking water.  Well to say the least, I've been struggling with 1 Thessalonians 5:18.  Giving thanks in ALL circumstances.  To be honest, I've even been a bit angry at times. (I'm embarrassed to even admit that!)  I've had to change huge blow-out diapers that require an army to change, which he does every week & a half with NO water!!!  What?!  I'm NOT happy in those moments.  I need to wash veggies, fruit, my hands after touching raw chicken or beef... YUCK.  And another reason I'm not happy - our neighborhood seems to be the only one having their water turned off everyday.  The neighborhood across the street which is at least 5 times bigger than our neighborhood has their water turned off like once or twice a month, maybe.  My helper said her's has never been turned off the way our's has.  What?!  Why?!

And then today I woke up to hearing about the tornado in Oklahoma.  People who lost everything they have and some worse, losing their children or family members.  Wow. What do I have to complain about???  I have NOTHING to complain about.  NOTHING.  I am SO blessed.  I have healthy children and a the best hubby a girl could even begin to dream about.  I live in a nice apartment with electricity and wireless internet, a great view, and running water (after 5 pm most days).   It's amazing when I put things into perspective, how my perception changes.

So what if I go without water during the day.  So what.  I have saved water in the bathtub for my everyday needs, such as flushing the toilets and mopping the floor.  I can live.  I have all I need.  So like I said, I've been struggling with 1 Thessalonians 5:18.   I think HE's been teaching me something these past months... well trying to teach my stubborn tail.  BE CONTENT.   GIVE THANKS.  REJOICE ALWAYS.  So please forgive me for my complaining.  Yes, this is day consecutive day #82 with no running water.  And I will choose to REJOICE and not focus on what I do not have but what I DO have.    HE is GOOD ALL THE TIME.

16 Rejoice always, 17 pray without ceasing, 18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
- 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
