HoNg KoNg

I just got back from Hong Kong yesterday, because Aben and I needed to make a visa run.  Although, we can do this as a quick turn around I figured we might as well take advantage of the awesome city of HK and stay a couple days.  So we did Aben's vaccinations and I went to the dentist and we got to stay and hang out with some friends from Hattiesburg there!  Totally cool!

On the airplane on our way!

Our sweet friends

HK had halloween decorations everywhere!

The HK Harbour

Ferry ride to Cheung Chau, one of the islands in HK

Cheung Chau, Hong Kong - There are NO cars on this island, they won't let you own one.

So, everyone rides bikes!

And we do too!

Me & my lil prince

(Blurry pic)  CARDINALS WIN the WORLD SERIES!!! I'm on the phone with Ben!

So, all in all it was an awesome trip.  This was my second trip to HK, but almost feels like the first again bc there is just so much to do!  And of course go shopping and buy the things we can't in our city!  I was able to buy some yummi snacks for us, goldfish, smores goldfish, sour gummies, the 8-12 cup coffee filters (they only have 4-6 cup coffee filters in our city), spices, granola bars, little happies for Braidynn, etc.  So, it was a good trip!

Now, that was not to say it wasn't stressful!  I had Aben in his little BJORN carrying sling from 9am - 8pm, for two days straight!  This does NOT help for good naps, for either of us! ha!  Saturday, was supposed to be the laid back easy day besides going to the airport.  Why does the airport always stress me out?  But especially traveling by myself with a little one!  So on Saturday, we wake up watch the AMAZING CARDINALS WIN!!!!! THE WORLD SERIES!!!!!!!  (I go to the store in middle of game with my friend.  It makes me so nervous to watch the whole time!)  After we watched the end of the game, ate lunch, I packed up and got ready to go.  My flight was at 5:10pm, so I was hoping to be all checked in and ready to go around 4ish....  My sweet friends take me to the free airport express shuttle bus stop at 2:30pm and we JUST missed the bus, we watched in driving away when we were about 30 steps to stop.  UrG!  It's ok though, the bus comes every 20 minutes.  But it didn't.  For some reason, the next bus came 50 min. later.  I get on the bus to realize that the driver was new and had never driven the bus route before and had a trainer sitting in front row giving him feedback.  But the trainer still let him make mistakes - like 2 times he took the wrong turn!!! Not cool at all in the city of Hong Kong with the traffic!  Now I'm realizing why the bus was late in the first place.  So, the bus actually doesn't take us to the airport, it takes us to the train station that takes us to the airport.  Right when I get down to train area, I see the train takeoff...perfect, I get to wait for the next one in 15 min.  At 4:06, I load onto the train carrying my one piece of luggage, Aben's carseat, Aben, and diaper bag.  At 4:35pm, I get off the train and when I'm almost to the ticket counter I realize that I left Aben's carseat on the train.  Yep, sure did.  The train is already gone, so I head to check-in counter.  I ask the guy at the counter if the carseat is gone forever and he says, "YES."  I'm about in tears now, but just super glad I didn't leave Aben on the train, at this point!  When I check in they tell me, "your boarding time is...NOW."  I have to run through HK airport, not cool.  Have to go downstairs several times, winding and weaving, to see that i have to take a bus to my terminal.  This bus is not leaving me!!!  I run and get on, it takes me to our terminal, I run straight to our gate and they are doing last call for our flight, so I run right on.  We made it.  barely.  And the carseat is gone forever....

Thankfully, no one was in the row in front of me, so Aben and I moved up there.  I fed him, played, then he took a nap laying across the seats.  Ahhhhhhh....You know, in those moments of stress, I kept thinking - the CARDINALS WON THE WORLD SERIES!!!!  And it helped get me through.  :)

Thank you CARDINALS for my "HAPPY FLIGHT!"
